Pitch: Further sound research

This is the beginning Twilight soundtrack! We want to find something similar to this - eerie and grey - very suited to our supernatural genre.

Pitch: The Treatment

Brief outline of the whole film:

Dylan is a vampire. He has been hiding this secret from everyone - his foster parents, his classmates, his teachers. Sick of his typical college with the same mundane cliches, he's sick of hiding his secret and wants to explore his vampire heritage - no matter what that may cost him. He researches his ancestors, trying to trace a relation. When he finally finds one - it's someone closer to him than he thinks.

Brief outline of the opening:

In our opening, we will see Dylan traveling and entering college. Here, we will get a typical insight into what cliche characters attend here - The Nerd, The 'It" Girl and the Token Black Guy  who is the only one who knows Dylan's secret. He then reveals that  he is sick of hiding his secret from everyone.

Pictures for our animatic

skills audit - Pitch

The skills we have learned so far in AS media are the following;
  1. how to use flip cameras
  2. how to use still cameras
  3. how to use the DV camera
  4. how to use final cut pro
  5. how to use Prezi
  6. how to use quick time player & quick time player 7
  7. how to use blogger
  8. how to post blogs
  9. how to embed videos onto our blogs
  10. how to import images onto our blogs
With each of the three cameras we have learned: how to access there settings, how to film professionally, we have learned how to use different attachments for them (tripods, microphones and flash lights), we have learned how to insert the batteries and insert SD cards, we have also learned how to import videos from each camera into our Macs.

With our software we have learned: how to edit video and sound on final cut pro, we have learned how to create presentations on Prezi, we have learned how to play video on quick time and the import them into final cut and we have learned how to use blogger to present our work to the public

With Blogger we have learned: how to post our blogs, we have learned how to embed videos and sound onto our blogs/posts, we have also learned how to import images onto our blogs.

These our 10 of the general things we have learned to do since we have started As media.

Pitch: Sub-genre

We have been inspired from teen films such as The Breakfast Club and the introductory of the characters, not so heavily on the plot.

We also thought about romance ideas from 10 Things I Hate About You and John Tucker Must Die however we weren't really appealed to it.

Our main supernatural ideas came from Chronicle and Twilight. We have a supernatural teen vampire in college who has to keep his secret from everyone. In our remake we will have the main character who is a teenage Vampire.

We wanted to create an opening scene of our movie and introduce our characters and take the idea from the opening scene of the Breakfast Club. We will have the typical nerd, 'it girl' and the token black guy.

Pitch: Risk Assessment

This is to make sure that we are responsible when on location and have considered the safety of everyone involved in the filming from the contributor, the crew to the general public. Throughout the filming day we have to consider what the potential hazards are, what injury could result from this hazard and how the risk can be reduced or avoided.
Moreover we have a moral obligation to ensure the safety of everyone we are working with.

General safety:

  • Hold the camera equipment upright and securely
  • Look where we are walking - especially when we are crossing the road -  and try to take routes that are less packed
  • We must make sure we all know where each other are
  • We must make sure the tripod is on a balanced surface when we are using it and when not in use, out of the way to avoid tripping
  • The weather may be typically British on the days we are filming so my group and I will ensure we are carrying a large umbrella to protect the filming equipment (and ourselves!)

Safety hazards at Angel Station: there are many people rushing about, so we must be careful to not drop the camera and equipment! We must also make sure we are not nuisances and get in peoples way.

Safety hazards at Angel Square: there a quite a few stairs in that area so we must make sure we watch our step!

Safety hazards at Owens Field: we need to ensure that we don't slip if the mud is wet as it is a grassy, muddy area!

Pitch: Location Location Location

Angel Station
The Locations where we will be filming our opening are all in the Angel area.

Angel Square
We will have various shots of the landmarks surrounding the college to use as a background for our title sequence. As well as being a backdrop for the credits, these shots will also give the audience an idea of what the area looks like, and build around the college, therefore making it feel more realistic.

Owen's Field
For our actual, scenes we will be shooting, in Owen's Field (to illustrate our characters transport preferences) and as it is a teen film, it will be predominantly set within college walls.
