Evaluation Question: 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

We attracted our audience through a variety of different ways.
Through social media where we made a Twitter page. Our target audience (13-19 year olds) are big social media users especially with Twitter which has generally more popular than Facebook. So it was useful for us to have a Twitter page as nearly everyone is using it and our audience can view the latest on our film Vamp.

There was an exclusive screening for the students and this was useful because it helped attract more viewers because they make up most of our target audience and through this they could spread the word to others.

Rough Cut Feedback
The feedback we got from our rough cut helped us a great deal. This is because it helped us understand what we needed to do to improve our preview. We cut off a few of our establishing shots so that it wasn't dragging. We also had to cut off our handheld camera shot because it didn't go with our scene.

Evaluation Question: 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Overall, these technologies have helped me all throughout the process of making my film. I have also learnt a lot from all the different types of technology and how to use them.

Feedback on our rough cut edit

The feedback we got from our rough cut was very helpful for us. It helped us make a lot of changes that made the outcome of our opening more better than it was before.

We got told that we had to film from different angles in order for it to be more creative. For example we got told that we couldn't film a scene opposite a glass door because you can see the camera on the glass of the door. So after we had to film from the side in order for us to get the shot.

FINAL Vamp opening!

Filming/Editing - 10th March

Firstly, Umbreen, Liam and Fabio went downstairs to film whilst I stayed upstairs editing. I added the title sequence and the soundtrack. I cut down the establishing shots and we managed to finish editing. Currently, we still need to add the production and distribution logo. After that we will be done!

Editing, rough cut & feedback - 6th March

This is our very first rough cut! It is far from perfect and we need to do a lot more before it is complete. We need to add a soundtrack at the beginning, reshoot one shot and add the title sequence.

Marissa gave us some feedback, which was:

  • to reduce the amount and length of the establishing shots as they don't do much for the opening.
  • to add in another shot in between when Fabio is walking towards Liam of Fabio taking a seat. Preferably a mid shot.
We also need to film more conversation between Fabio and Liam because there is not enough and our opening only comes up just under 1 minute and 20 seconds.

We aim to finish these last bits up in Mondays three hour lesson!

Editing day 1

Today we began editing. We have discovered some jumps and discontinuous shots. We need to film a little more and reshoot 1 or 2 shots, which we will hopefully get done in Mondays 3 hour lesson. We have finished editing our establishing shots together and part of the entrance.

Today we finished filming! We re-filmed our our entering shot for continuity and filmed all of the dialogue and shots in the canteen.

Filming Day 2 - 13th Feb: Entrance

We didn't get much done today due to some technical difficulties we had at the beginning! This wasted half an hour of our time. Due to this, we only got a couple of shots of Fabio walking by the college. We didn't want to begin shooting the actual dialogue with our characters because we knew we wouldn't get it finished and this would create continuity issues when we eventually edited the footage all together.

After half term, we will finish up all of the inside shots in the canteen. We didn't want to split this scene into separate days of filming as the lighting would change and issues I mentioned before. (continuity)

Filming Day 1 - 10th Feb: The establishing shots

Today we filmed our establishing shots and all the ones without our characters in them. We got shots of the traffic lights, Angel station, various roads and crossings. We got a panning shot and a still one for each location so we can decide on which ones would look better when we edit. We also got shots of a telephone box as we thought it was typical London iconography and would be good to include.

We had a problem when going to Angel Square to film, as we did not know it was private property and security guards quickly (and meanly) put a stop to our filming, which was a problem. The weather was also horrible today - it was raining and cold. My group and managed to get our shots whilst the rain paused for a little while, so we overcame this problem.

On Thursday, we will be getting all of the shots with our characters in them. We just need to pop down to the canteen to film these shots as we have done all the shots we need to travel for today. This weekend we will work on a rough script, but we have already planned the shot types etc.

Animatix Draft 1

Our Pitch!

Pitch: Further sound research

This is the beginning Twilight soundtrack! We want to find something similar to this - eerie and grey - very suited to our supernatural genre.

Pitch: The Treatment

Brief outline of the whole film:

Dylan is a vampire. He has been hiding this secret from everyone - his foster parents, his classmates, his teachers. Sick of his typical college with the same mundane cliches, he's sick of hiding his secret and wants to explore his vampire heritage - no matter what that may cost him. He researches his ancestors, trying to trace a relation. When he finally finds one - it's someone closer to him than he thinks.

Brief outline of the opening:

In our opening, we will see Dylan traveling and entering college. Here, we will get a typical insight into what cliche characters attend here - The Nerd, The 'It" Girl and the Token Black Guy  who is the only one who knows Dylan's secret. He then reveals that  he is sick of hiding his secret from everyone.
