Genres and Conventions

A convention is a way in which something is usually done.Teen films is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, teen angst or alienation.

The large majority of teen films are set in high schools and colleges. Usual character stereotypes are: Jocks, Nerds, Cheerleaders and Stoners. 

Some sub genres are: rom com, drama, thriller, mystery 
and comedy.
